Privacy Policy
Plain English Version
We designed PrivacyHarbor™ to enable users—particularly business class users—, to conduct private message-based communications over the Internet. To do this, it was imperative that our revenue sources NOT in any way be derived through advertising fees, like most free email and instant messaging services available on the Internet today. This way we have no built-in financial interest to "harvest" and "re-purpose" what we feel should be private information (data) from the communications of users, in order to support advertising customers... which we do not have.
We are simply custodians of your communications data, which includes the information contained in messages, and claim absolutely no ownership rights over your information whatsoever. Outside of what may be required of us according to prevailing law, we will never knowingly share or provide any of your data to a third party without written instructions from you to do so. We will also not use your data to maintain and enrich user-profile data bases (made accessible to third parties) as IS done throughout the web advertising business world.
For an eye-opening view into what we like to call the advertising/messaging matrix of the Internet, a place where things are never quite what they seem, take a few minutes to review the Privacy Policies of popular web mail and messaging services. Focus on their "sharing of personal information" sections and it will make clear who their clients really are. In legalese they typically carve out a world where media moguls masquerade as free communication solutions and free information tool providers.
PrivacyHarbor™ has no "Marketing Partners", approved or otherwise. Don't want 'em, don't need 'em - as it would conflict with our primary value proposition - which is Private communications. Our policy is that we will only access and analyze (how you use) your communication network modalities so as to provide technical application support so we may better support your business interest, such as advertising and promoting your business, and as a PrivacyHarbor™ customer by and through developing and providing better communication and information services.
